    Comments:

I bought this bike for something to ride when I'm out with my wife on the bike trail. It's a bit heavy (around 35 lbs) but that just gives me a better workout which is what I wanted anyway. Being a hardtail I probably wouldn't use it for all-out mountain biking but it's lots of fun on and off the path. I found the shifting to be easy, it did need a little adjustment after a few weeks but it's holding fine now. The 29" wheels are a little heavier than 26" but you can roll over lots of stuff without worry. Supplied tires are knobby and work pretty good down to about 45 lbs. I had it out in the snow a few times and it did okay. The wheels have loose bearings though, not sealed. I had the bike on the beach a bit and had to repack the bearings afterwards because of the sand that gets in there. Wheels seem strong, have only done a few minor true ups after 1000 or so miles. Road riding with this beast will make you strong since it's heavy but it is pretty comfortable. You can lock out the fork suspension when you're on the road. I have done 75 mile rides with it on mixed trail/road. Top end speed is limited by gearing but you're probably not going to set any speed records anyway. This is my first bike with disk brakes and the hydraulic system works great. The bike stops quickly even on a downhill or when it's wet. All in all I'm really satisfied with the bike. It's my goto machine when surfaces are questionable or I'm just out to have fun.

    Comments:

At first I was a little nervous buying a bike not knowing anything at all about them ! Checked it out on the site and the price was at my range because I wasn't going to be riding every weekend but wanted something that could last me a while. The bike looks awesome I love the brakes and just love the feel of it on the trails, just the gears doesn't seem to shift as smooth as my buddies older rockhopper but it just might need a little adjustment. The service was also great, Chris was the one who helped me all way including the set-up of the bike rack on the car! There was no pressure for any add-ons he just simply showed items that I could upgrade on the bike like pedals etc. To sum it up, if you are looking for a nice bike to start off with I feel that this one is it! Thanks Guys for the help. Best Regards Raphael Lacerda

This bike is the bomb, it is the best bike I have ever had in my life. I have 8 mountain bikes that are all over 2,000 dollars and I got just for a scrap bike but it is better than most of my other bikes that are almost tripled the price. Buy this bike it is bad a

      Comments:

First let me say I really really want to enjoy this bike. However I have had nothing but issues with the drive train and a few other items on it since I have bought it. First the original crank arm was slightly tweaked when i bought it. For the first month i had it i couldn't really shift out of my largest chainwheel on the front. It was replaced with an arm off of a demo model (for free thanks, at the shop). Afterwards i go to do my weekly 20+ mile ride and my chain begins to fall off regularly. Just to finish my ride i had to start shifting my front and back gears in unison. Smallest on front to 1-3 on back, middle to 4-6 on back, highest to 7-9 on back. I am beyond upset regarding the situation. Additionally when i bought the bike the back disc brake makes nothing but a gargling noise when i pull it. ( it still works fine though ) . I am exhausted from having to follow up on this time and time again and don't feel like i should have to nag for something like this to be fixed the first time. I don't know if it's due to improper set up or whatever the case is, but i don't particularly want to spend any more money where i purchased the bike at due to my less than satisfying experience with it. On a side note the pedals are not very good either.

        Comments:

I haven't been on a bike in years and decided since I live in Marin, the birthplace of Mountain Biking, that I should start riding again. My Rockhopper 29er has exceeded every perception of a bike that I have had. I have started commuting with it and the hills are much easier than I anticipated due to having 27 gears which shift smoothly. I can get good speed despite the lack of physical conditioning(Which is changing)and maintain the speed. I have only had it on a firetrail once so far, but The Rockhopper 29er handled very well. I think I will have this bike for many years and will grow into a skill level worthy of this bike!
